Freekeh product review and GIVEAWAY

As part of my association with the Fit Approach/Sweat Pink community and my ambassadorship I was given the opportunity to review Freekeh and host a Freekeh Foods giveaway (sorry, open to US residents only)! 

What is Freekeh you are likely asking… Rosemary Sage

Freekeh is a process which means “to rub” in Arabic. Freekeh was created by accident nearly 2,000 years ago when a Middle Eastern village was attacked and their crop of young green wheat was set ablaze. Most folks would sulk over their misfortune, but the crafty villagers rubbed off the chaff, cooked it up and “Eureka!” Freekeh was created.  *NOT GLUTEN FREE*

Freekeh has up to three times the fiber and protein found in brown rice, and fewer calories than quinoa and white rice. Freekeh is a great choice to use in recipes you already enjoy, from salads, to soups, to main dishes—the cook times are comparable to brown rice, so it’s easy to choose Freekeh!

Each package states it makes 4 servings, which is a lot!!  I only prepared half of the package (Rosemary Sage) and have been enjoying it in salads, in my breakfast egg whites and even mixed some in with my steamed zucchini!!  Freekeh was super simple to cook on the stove and was ready in 20 minutes.  I’ve kept the prepared Freekeh in the fridge for four days and it still looks and tatstes great.

For me, I prefer Freekeh over quinoa!  I prefer the taste and texture of Freekeh and it doesn’t hide in my teeth like quinoa does 🙂

  • Hey 2015, it’s me Leslee (AKA Beautea97).
  • This year I would like to find my mojo again, to complete a couple of half marathons and love my life again.
  • It would also be super duper awesome if I also motivated others this year. It’s not a resolution, though, just a reminder to myself to try and have the best year yet because I’m worth it.
  • The thing I am looking forward to most this year is being happy.
  • I’ll use the one thing that truly gets me out of bed in the morning which is loving myself to help me get up, get moving and get after my #NoExcuses 2015.
  • Speaking of excuses (ahem), my very favorite excuse is “not feeling it” or not feeling safe and I have used it.
  • I vow to move my body and be more healthy this year even if it means I have to run in the dark.
  • Even if my alarm clock gets eaten by the dog in the middle of the night, I’ll still persevere.
  • I will stop blaming my lose.
  • I know that any spin, running, skating is better than sitting on the couch!!
  • I will reward myself with new workout gear <wink>
  • No Excuses 2015 has just begun and already I am imagining myself a winner. I can’t wait to rock an action jersey from Augusta Active. I can’t wait till my sweaty friends are jealous of how fresh, clean and smooth I am between workouts with help from ShowerPill body wipes. I can see myself rocking spinal balance in a new double chummie tank from Actio926 and looking fit and fly while doing it. And of course, I’ll be taking my workouts to the next level and improving my core balance with my new ActivMotion Bar to help me train for my next half marathon race with Sasquatch Racing.
  • Oh, and let’s not forget how amazing my #InknBurn tanks will smell during my of workout after washing with some WIN Detergent. And lastly, I’ll keep rocking my 2015 with clean eats and nutrition from Beaming with Health!
